Founded by Gene Perry in 1983, Afro Rumba is a Latin Jazz and Salsa band based in San Diego, CA. The group originally played rumba, an afro-cuban musical dance form, which lead to the group's name. Afro Rumba now ranges from a 2- to 10-piece band playing diverse dance rhythms such as bolero, guajira, cha-cha, merengue, guaracha, guaguanco, mambo, bomba, plena, cumbia, danzon, samba, and bossa nova.
