Cam Clements
Some musicians spend their careers learning one room. Cameron Clements learned several.
Jazz band, orchestra, chamber ensemble, brass band—different rules, different crowds, same requirement: listen carefully and know when to step forward.
Cameron is a San Diego–based saxophonist whose training started in the conservatory and eventually took him around the country. He earned degrees in Music Education and Saxophone Performance from Louisiana State University, followed by a master’s in Saxophone Performance from Baylor University. Then came seven years as a musician in the United States Navy, performing and touring across the country.
That range still defines his work today. Cameron moves comfortably between jazz, orchestral performances, concerto appearances, chamber music, brass bands, and other live settings without treating any of them like a side project.
When he isn’t performing, he teaches the next generation of musicians throughout San Diego, directing jazz bands and teaching saxophone at area middle and high schools as well as serving on the faculty at Point Loma Nazarene University.
The résumé is formal. The approach isn’t. Cameron brings serious training, years on the road, and the kind of versatility that comes from knowing the music well enough to serve the room instead of showing off for it.
